How Tyson Fury Fights
Fury is unusually mobile for a man his size. He uses feints, head movement and quick changes of stance to make opponents miss, then counters. When he wants to, he can also walk forward and lean on opponents, as he did to Deontay Wilder in their second fight. His stamina and ability to get up from heavy knockdowns, most famously against Wilder, are central to his reputation.
Tyson Fury’s Road to Joshua
Fury first became world champion by beating Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, then stepped away from boxing to focus on his mental health, a subject he has since spoken about openly. He returned in 2018, won the WBC title from Wilder in 2020 and stayed unbeaten until two points losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.
He announced his retirement in January 2025, but came back after 16 months out to beat Arslanbek Makhmudov in April 2026. Joshua was ringside, and Fury called him out straight after the fight. A July win over Mariusz Wach kept him active before the Joshua fight was confirmed in September.
